The talk on how to get the most value from growing, storing, preserving and cooking. A showcase with a wide variety of plants, explaining the need to consider first and foremost, the importance of choosing the most nutritious varieties, looking at the latest research, the holistic health benefits of plants and superfood nutrition.

Julia Ayrey will cover the latest trends such as no dig, permaculture, forest gardening, crop rotation, growing from seed benefits, choosing the best varieties and general trouble shooting.

The success of a kitchen garden requires consideration of all these elements and part of the fun is discovering and learning about all these elements:-

Julia is as an extremely knowledgeable horticulturalist, who has a passion for “The Kitchen Garden”. She comes from a family in Ireland who grew vegetables commercially. She studied Botany at Trinity College Dublin, Kinsealy Research Centre and The Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin, Dublin.

Julia worked for many years as the Horticultural Manager in a large garden center and currently works as an Assistant Manager. She has designed several gardens including the garden for Princess Anne’s visit to the Paddocks Housing Trust, and frequently gives horticultural talks, writes garden articles for local magazines and recently developed a gardening YouTube channel.

Julia supports the Lemon Tree Trust and her fee from this talk will be going to the worthy charity which is transforming refugee camps with gardens.

Arrive at 10.15 am for 10.30 am start. Complimentary refreshments will be provided. The talk will finish at 1pm. £30 (20 places).
